Foundation Milestones

While KHG is still in many ways “just getting started”, it has reached several major milestones since its official launch in September 2005. Some of the most significant accomplishments to date are highlighted below:

  • Raised over $750,000 by engaging over 3,100 unique individuals in the brain tumor cause – through donations or though participation in an event or both
  • Received over $200,000 in grant funding from private foundations
  • Obtained corporate donations from several leading medical-related organizations, including:
    • AstraZeneca
    • Genentech
    • Coventry Health Care
    • Blue Cross/Blue Shield
  • Obtained a grant from a major search engine for free online advertising
  • Held the first-ever brain tumor awareness walk in the State of Delaware on May 3, 2008 – which was sponsored by The Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, attended by over 2,000 people and which generated over $222,000 for the Foundation
  • Created/Launched a national fundraising/awareness program - Tulips Against Tumors – which is now in its fourth year
  • Received grant funding from the State of Delaware to help launch a pilot of its “Get Your Head In The Game®” awareness campaign
  • Endorsed by all three members of the Delaware Delegation for Federal Appropriations Funding in FY09:
    • Senator Biden
    • Senator Carper
    • Representative Castle
